On October 21, 2026, the Nevada Water Environment Association (NWEA) proudly participated in the Variety School Open House & Agency Fair in Las Vegas. Variety School serves students from kindergarten through 12th grade with specialized educational programs designed to support children with diverse learning and developmental needs. NWEA volunteers hosted an interactive educational booth focused on the importance of water, wastewater, and stormwater systems and the critical role they play in protecting public health and the environment.

Students, parents, teachers, and school staff stopped by throughout the event to test their knowledge through fun water-related trivia questions and educational discussions. Participants spun the quiz/prize wheel for the opportunity to win giveaways while learning where their water comes from, what happens after it goes down the drain, and how everyone can help protect local waterways. The interactive format created meaningful conversations and helped bring water and environmental stewardship concepts to life for attendees of all ages.

NWEA extends its appreciation to the volunteers who represented our organization at the event: Ruben Moya, Utility Collection Systems Technician II with the Clark County Water Reclamation District and NWEA Public Outreach Committee volunteer; Joseline Alvarez, NWEA Public Outreach Committee Co-Chair and Water Quality Specialist with the Clark County Water Reclamation District; Aaron Kraft, NWEA President and Client Director with Black & Veatch; and Adrian Romero, NWEA Public Outreach Committee Co-Chair and Pretreatment Inspector with the Clark County Water Reclamation District. Their enthusiasm and dedication helped make the event a success and supported NWEA's mission of educating our communities about the value of water and environmental protection.
