The Board of Directors provides strategic leadership and oversees the operations of the Association in accordance with the NWEA Bylaws.

Working Committees

Committees are the driving force behind many of NWEA's programs, educational opportunities, networking events, and member services.

The Nominating Committee is the only committee required by the NWEA Bylaws. The President may establish additional committees as needed to support the Association's goals and initiatives.

Special committees may also be created to support conferences, local arrangements for national events, or specific legislative or regulatory issues.

Board of Certification

The Board of Certification administers Nevada's wastewater operator certification program in accordance with Nevada Revised Statute (NRS) 445.201.

Its responsibilities include reviewing certification applications, maintaining certification standards, and supporting the professional development of wastewater operators throughout the State of Nevada.

• Elected annually by the Board

• Serves a 3-year term as a Board of Certification Member

Vice Chairperson

• Elected annually by the Board

• Serves a 3-year term as a Board of Certification Member

Five Additional Board Members

• Each serves a 3-year term

Administrative Assistant

• Appointed by the Board of Certification

• No minimum term of service

• Position may be compensated

Board Composition Requirements

The seven-member Board of Certification must include the following representation:

• One member with at least three years of experience as a wastewater operator

• One member certified at the highest operator level offered in the State of Nevada

• Two members representing owners of Publicly Owned Treatment Works (POTWs)

• One member representing a community with a wastewater treatment system of 5 million gallons per day (MGD) or less

• One member who may be any current NWEA member

Additionally:

• At least three Board members must be employed within Clark County.

• Appointments are staggered to maintain continuity, ensuring that at least four members continue serving from one year to the next.
