About the Poster Competition

Showcase your research and connect with water and wastewater professionals at the 2027 Nevada Water Environment Association Annual Conference.

The Student Poster Competition provides students with an opportunity to present their research, discuss their work with industry professionals, and build valuable connections with employers, professors, utilities, government agencies, public officials, and other professionals throughout the water and wastewater industry.

Participants are encouraged to take advantage of the full conference experience by attending technical sessions, exploring the Exhibit Hall, and networking with professionals from across Nevada and the surrounding region.

The Poster Competition will take place in the Exhibit Hall. Participants should have their posters set up prior to the start of the poster session and should remain with their posters from 5:15 PM to 6:15 PM to answer questions and discuss their research with conference attendees and judges.

Judging will take place during the poster session, with winners announced at approximately 6:30 PM.

Awards

Cash prizes will be awarded to the top posters:

• 1st Place: $500

• 2nd Place: $300

• 3rd Place: $200

• Undergraduate Award: $150

The Undergraduate Award is intended to encourage and recognize undergraduate participation in the competition.

Submission & Registration

• All Student Poster Competition participants must register for the 2027 NVWEA Annual Conference.

• A reduced student registration rate is available.

• Students are encouraged to attend technical sessions and participate in the full conference program.

Poster Requirements

• The recommended poster size is 40 inches × 60 inches.

• Posters must be mounted on or attached to a firm poster board and displayed on the easel provided.

• The poster title and author name(s) should be clearly visible and prominently displayed.

• Posters should focus on key findings, graphics, figures, data, and conclusions while keeping descriptive text to a minimum.

• Content should be organized so the poster can be easily understood even when the author is not present.

• All poster content must be directly visible and accessible. Materials requiring attendees to lift, open, or turn pages are not permitted.

• Additional materials may not be placed in front of, above, below, or beside the poster.

• Due to limited space in the poster viewing area, tables, freestanding displays, and other large presentation materials are not permitted.

Optional Handouts

Participants may provide 8.5 × 11-inch copies of their poster or related materials for attendees.

If handouts are provided, an envelope or document holder may be attached to the bottom of the poster to hold copies.
