This tour features the Truckee Meadows Water Reclamation Facility (TMWRF), northern Nevada’s largest treatment facility including tertiary treatment (30 MGD), serving the Reno-Sparks Area. Stringent effluent limits are met through an enhanced biological phosphorus removal activated sludge process, nitrifying trickling filters, fluidized bed denitrification reactors, and other processes. TMWRF has also made significant investment into resource recovery and operates an Ostara Pearl® reactor producing a commercial grade fertilizer.

● T2: Reno-Stead WRF/UNR IPR Feasibility Study

This is a great opportunity to tour the Reno-Stead Water Reclamation Facility (WRF) (2.35 MGD), an advanced water treatment facility discharging to wetlands and reclaimed water systems. With the University of Nevada, Reno (UNR), the facility is pilot testing the feasibility of indirect potable reuse (IPR) and groundwater augmentation. Technologies include Coagulation-Flocculation-Clarification Granular Media Filtration (CFC-GMF), Ozone-Biologically Activated Carbon (O3-BAC), and Ultraviolet Disinfection and Effluent Polishing (UV+).

● T3: MARBLE BLUFF FISH PASSAGE FACILITY

Tour the Marble Bluff Fish Passage Facility, aiding cutthroat trout spanning from Pyramid Lake into the Truckee River. The high-tech fish lock can move as many as 2,000 fish in 15 minutes. This tour offers attendees the opportunity to learn about the evolution, population trends, and resurgence of these historic fish species. Attendees may have an opportunity to help biologists sample fish and collect important data.


FRIDAY, APRIL 3
● T4: SOL CANNABIS

SoL cannabis is a one-of-a-kind grow facility with a hybrid greenhouse, state-of-the-art commercial kitchen and extraction lab, directly connected to a dispensary. Most cannabis is grown using 100% artificial lighting. SoL has been focused on using natural sunlight. Attendees will learn about the day-to-day operations of the facility and the challenges encountered in this field on this exciting tour.
