WW Operator Certification Class Syllabus

Dates: Every Thursday from July 09 to September 02, 2009

Location: TMWRF, 8500 Cleanwater Way, Reno NV, Training Room (no reservations, just show up at the dates and times).

Bio-30 years experience. Started out High School Student in 1978 at Dublin San Ramon Services District in the Regional Occupational Program (ROP), City of Merced Ca. from 1980-1981, City of Livermore WRP from 1981-1986, City of Sparks TMWRF from 1986-present, Rainbow Bend or Canyon GID from 1990-2002. Bachelor of Science in Business Management from the University of Phoenix in 2005. Member of the State of Nevada, Waste Water Operator Certification Board since 1999.

(0600-0800) Preparing to take a Wastewater exam. Grade I exam sample questions, we will go through several questions that could potentially be on a grade I or any WW related exam. We will discuss terminology, the function of some equipment and processes.

(0600-0800) Activated Sludge basics, how different activated sludge processes and equipment work such as conventional, extended aeration, oxidation ditches, contact stabilization and sequential batch reactors. We will discuss some nutrient removal.

(0600-0800) Anaerobic Digester and Solids Handling basics, we will discuss different methodology on how anaerobic digesters works. We will explore the different types of solids handling equipment and how they operate.

September 03, 2009
(0600-1000) WW Operator exam review, we will review for one hour each grade level. This review will be based on your requests.
