Greetings from the Future City® Competition!
Greetings from the 2009-2010 National Engineers Week Future City® Competition!
The Future City® Competition introduces 7th and 8th graders to the wide world of engineering. This year’s challenge is to create an affordable living space for people who have lost their home due to a disaster or financial emergency. The living space should use sustainable materials, have a low-carbon emissions footprint, and achieve the “Green Ideals” of energy efficient building. The students will blow you away with how much they learn and the wonderful ideas they come up with. It’s a wonderful event and it’s so rewarding to see the excitement on the kids faces! There is always a need for volunteers and engineering mentors. The mentors work with individual teams to help guide them and answer their questions and volunteers help out the day of the competition. If you are interested getting involved by becoming a mentor or a volunteer, please contact your local coordinator. Thanks so much for helping us introduce engineering to the next generation.
